In ancient times Colombia was occupied by societies governed by chiefs. Gold, the sacred metal found in the rivers, adorned the political leaders and was used as offerings to the gods. When the European conquistadores arrived in 1500, goldwork was characteristic of the cultures to the north and south of Colombia: Sinú, Tairona, Muisca, Quimbaya, Narino and Calima. Gold objects accompanied the dead in their tombs, and today bear witness to the spirit of the people who created them. We present here Pre-Colombian Jewelery - exact replicas of pieces from the Gold Museum of Colombia . All pieces are made of pewter plated with 24 K Gold, and kiln fired hand-made ceramic beads.
